Linda and her classically trained school horses offer you the opportunity to become a classical rider. In the tradition of the French and Portuguese schools of dressage, Linda adheres to the European tradition of classical dressage. Although unlike the typical Baroque or Iberian horse used for classical dressage, you will have a rare opportunity to ride an American Quarter Horse and Hanoverians that Linda has trained in the art of classical dressage. As reflected in the many different breeds of horses Linda trains, “Classical dressage is a dance for any horse.”
The Accomplished Classical Rider Program is a structured program that will take a student through all of the classical dressage movements. Beginning at the walk, all of the lateral movements are introduced while the rider can work on balance and lightness. Riders will be taught to ride with a light hand and seat. When needed riders will be lunged at all gaits to work on their seat and balance. After completing work at the walk satisfactorily, riders will move on to the trot and then the canter. Collected gaits and upper level movements such as piaffe, passage, and canter pirouette would begin after the rider can do all of the lateral movements satisfactorily.
