MARR PLAN MOTORCADE for WILD HORSES and BURROS Across The American West
Submitted by: Jacqueline Oliveri For Immediate Release November 1, 2021 Washington DC- 31-mile MOTORCADE FOR THE WILD HORSES – Washington DC to Annapolis – Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021. Why 31 miles? It is the length of a single file of 20,000 wild horses. And why 20,000? It is the number of wild horses that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) intends to brutally round up by helicopter every year, year after year. And after that? Anthony Marr, originator of the alternative MARR PLAN, designed to terminate round ups and rewild all captives, while saving upward of $120 million in 2022 alone, wrote: "Wild Horse MASS SLAUGHTER in 10 years or less, unless halted by the MARR PLAN. "The 10-years-to-AML (Appropriate Management Level) wild horse decimation policy of the Bureau of Land Management requires brutally rounding up 15,000 to 20,000 wild horses per year by helicopter and dumping them into more and more holding facilities. Aside from its open display of cruelty and the less visible financial ineptitude, it is a DEATH SPIRAL that will lead inevitably to the mass slaughter of wild horses and burros within 10 years, if not sooner. Relying on adoption as a solution has proven a dismal failure since the late 1970s. The only way to prevent this death spiral from becoming a full-blown disaster is to nip it in the bud – by implementing the MARR PLAN without delay. "Why is '10-years-to-AML' a death spiral? At about $5 per horse per day in upkeep, or about $2000 per horse per year, it will COST Congress $120 million in 2022 alone to warehouse the then extant 60,000 captives. Adding 15,000 to 20,000 more each year to the captive population will INCREASE the annual cost by over $40 million. Thus, $160 million in 2023, $210 million in 2024, $260 million in 2025, and $360 million in 2030, plus inflation. "Will Congress pay out that much to the BLM to pointlessly warehouse an ever-burgeoning population of captive wild horses for life? If not, MASS SLAUGHTER will become new BLM policy. And how will the horse-loving public react? 'Over my dead body' would be a good guess." Why would the United States Government choose cruelty when it could implement the MARR PLAN instead? For the sake of our wild horses, please join us for the motorcade on November 13. Participants will assemble at 9 am at (place). A brief media session will be held at 9:30, and the motorcade will depart Washington for Annapolis at 10 am, to arrive at (place and time).
