My husband and I are looking for an inexpensive cottage or barn apartment to rent starting on August 1st. I work in Gainesville and he works in Sterling so we are looking for something within 25 to 30 miles or less from these areas (ie Purcellville, Haymarket, Leesburg, Hamilton, Waterford)
I am an experienced horsewoman who has ridden horses for 11 years and owned and trained horses for the past 7 years until my wonderful Appendix Quarter Horse, Breeze, had to be put down about a month ago because of a severe colic episode that left me with no other option. I would be happy to help with barn work (cleaning stalls, feeding, grooming, mowing, etc.) in exchange for a significant reduction in rent.
I have studied Parelli Natural Horsemanship for the past seven years as well, including spending 3 months at their training center in Colorado with Breeze in 2006. I offer horse training as well, and specialize in helping "problem" horses, teaching people to understand horse psychology and how to communicate effectively with horses, and starting young horses with groundwork and under saddle. I have numerous references available upon request.
